Ayesha Raza Farooq

Ayesha Raza Farooq serves as the second Chairperson of the National Commission on the Rights of Child (NCRC). She has been a member of Pakistan’s National Assembly and also the Senate of Pakistan. She has served as Chairperson of Senate Committees on Delegated Legislation and Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges. She has also notably led the Pakistan Polio Program in Pakistan as Prime Minister’s Focal Person and won the Sitara-e-Imtiaz in recognition of her efforts towards polio eradication, showcasing her commitment to public health and children welfare. She has a distinguished academic career, being recipient of Gold medal in her LLB from the University of Punjab and was placed on the Deans Honor List in MBA at the Lahore University of Management Sciences. She has taught subjects like Financial Accounting, Marketing Research, and Business Law at the Lahore School of Economics for 20 years. She is also serving as chairperson of the Special statutory Committee of the Anti-Rape Investigation and Trial Act, 2021. She is a member of the Federal Task Force on Health. Ayesha is also a member of the Partnership Council, Immunization Agenda 2030, a global-level immunization partner leadership group. She also serves on the boards of Salman Sufi Foundation and the Bhandara Foundation.

Khalid Naeem is a dedicated professional who has contributed significantly to the field of child rights, engaged as Member (ICT) at the NCRC. With a wealth of experience, Mr. Naeem previously worked with the government, donors and NGOs. He continues to bring his passion for child welfare and his extensive background in the field to his current position, contributing to the promotion and protection of the rights of children.

Pirbhu Lal Satyani hails from Tharparkar, Sindh, and is a distinguished member representing Sindh and minorities in the NCRC. Mr. Satyani is an Fulbright Hubert H. Humphrey Fellow, and brings over two decades of extensive experience. He has contributed significantly to national and international organizations, holding senior positions. His multifaceted skills encompass strategic planning, project management, research, policy advocacy, lobbying, and capacity building. Mr. Satyani is deeply committed to human rights, particularly those of children, women, minorities, and laborers.

Muhammad Hassan, a bright and enthusiastic student currently pursuing his education at the college level, serves as a dedicated Child Member of the NCRC. As a representative of the younger generation, Hassan brings a unique perspective to the commission, actively contributing to discussions and initiatives that focus on the well-being and rights of children in Pakistan. Muhammad Hassan’s involvement as a Child Member reflects his passion for advocating and ensuring that the rights of children are recognized and prioritized, providing a promising outlook for the next generation

Valerie Khan Yousafzai
Senior Technical Advisor

Valerie Khan Yousafzai is a child rights expert with an extensive career spanning over two decades. She has dedicated her professional life to championing the rights and well-being of children. Her wealth of experience encompasses a deep understanding of the intricacies surrounding child protection, Justice For Children, Gender Equality, Capacity-Building engineering, legal & policy reform, multi stakeholder engagement and MEAL. Valerie brings a unique blend of passion and technical expertise to her role, fostering collaborations and implementing impactful initiatives that contribute to the betterment of children’s lives.

Strategic Engagement Officer

Ali Abbas serves as the Strategic Engagement Officer at the NCRC and also assumes the charge of managing the communications portfolio. With a strategic mindset and a keen understanding of effective engagement, Ali plays a crucial role in enhancing the visibility and impact of the commission’s initiatives. His responsibilities include developing and executing communication strategies, ensuring that the NCRC’s mission and advocacy efforts are effectively communicated to various stakeholders. Ali Abbas’s proficiency in strategic communication amplifies the NCRC’s voice, reinforcing its dedication to creating a society where the rights and well-being of every child are prioritized and protected.

Aleena Khan, serves as the Legal Advisor for the NCRC. With a robust background in law and a commitment to advancing child rights, Aleena plays a pivotal role in providing legal expertise to the commission. Her role involves navigating the complex legal landscape to ensure that policies and initiatives align with the legal framework governing child rights in Pakistan.

Safdar Raza serves as a Technical Associate at the NCRC, contributing significantly to the commission’s mission. With a robust background in child rights, Safdar Raza blends his technical expertise with a deep understanding of the intricacies surrounding the rights of children. Safdar’s unique combination of technical skills and a commitment to child rights positions him as a valuable asset in the commission’s efforts to safeguard and promote the well-being of children across the nation.

Khalid Latif, serves as the Secretary of the NCRC, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this vital role. With a commitment to advancing the rights and well-being of children, Mr. Latif has dedicated his career to public service. His background includes pivotal positions in the government and other related sectors, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of administrative processes, policy implementation, and child rights. As Secretary, he plays a crucial role in coordinating and facilitating the commission’s activities, ensuring effective communication, and overseeing the implementation of policies aimed at safeguarding and promoting the rights of children in Pakistan.

Mehek Naeem
Member Punjab

Mehek Naeem, a dedicated member representing the province of Punjab in the NCRC, brings a wealth of academic achievement and practical experience to the table. Mehek is researcher and her focus has been on child protection systems, violence against children, mental health, education and children at risk. Her commitment to child rights is further underscored by her work revolving around designing and implementing programs for children, evidence generation, teaching and training. Her multifaceted expertise makes Mehek Naeem a valuable asset to the NCRC, where she continues to champion the cause of children’s rights with passion and proficiency.

Nadia Bibi
Member Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Nadia Bibi, a committed member of the NCRC representing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, brings a wealth of experience and a global perspective to her role. She has previously worked as a child protection worker in the Ministry of Children and Family Development in Canada and has over a decade of invaluable experience in child rights. This international exposure enhances her understanding of the unique challenges faced by children in need of safeguarding, making her a crucial advocate within the NCRC. Her commitment to the cause is a driving force within the commission, where she actively contributes to shaping initiatives that promote and protect the rights of children in the region.

Shania Khan
Member Balochistan

Shania Khan hails from the tribal society of Balochistan and is a distinguished member representing Balochistan in the National Commission on the Rights of Child (NCRC). She is a dedicated social and political activist with 15 years of diverse experience, having held senior positions in various national and international organizations. Shania leverages her multifaceted skills in leadership, communication, strategic planning, project management, policy advocacy, lobbying, and capacity building. 

Shania’s commitment to human rights, particularly those of children, women, and minorities, has been a driving force in her endeavors. Her political journey includes contesting for the Senate of Pakistan and receiving a party ticket for the 2018 general elections. She served as Advisor to the Chief Minister of Balochistan for the Social Welfare and Women Development Department from 2013 to 2014 and as a Coordinator to the Chief Minister of Balochistan. Additionally, she was a board member of the Balochistan Commission on the Status of Women. 

Shania’s extensive experience and dedication to human rights make her a vital asset to the NCRC, where she continues to advocate for the protection and welfare of children in Pakistan. 

Rabia Imran
Female Child Member

Rabia Imran, a determined young girl, proudly serves as a Female Child Member of the NCRC. Currently engaged in her educational journey, Rabia represents the vibrant voice of the female youth within the commission. Her role underscores a commitment to promoting and safeguarding the rights of children in Pakistan. Beyond her academic pursuits, Rabia actively contributes to discussions and initiatives that address the unique challenges faced by young girls and women in the country.

Research Analyst

Maham Afridi, works as a Research Analyst for the NCRC. She plays a vital role in the commission’s pursuit of comprehensive understanding and effective advocacy for children’s rights. Armed with a strong background in research methodologies, Maham contributes her analytical skills to the commission’s initiatives, ensuring evidence-based insights guide the development and implementation of policies.
